We all want bright, healthy looking eyes but slathering on more chemical laden creams feels like doing more harm than good. But did you know that there are natural ways to protect skin around eyes? Taking good care of this sensitive area can brighten your face right up.

Vitamin E oils and creams can actually really help to protect your skin. Just a small amount of the oil or cream can go a very long way. Carefully dab a little bit around your eyes before bed each night. Another great agent to use is raw honey. If you’re looking for a way to actually reduce wrinkles around your eyes and kick up the softness, raw honey is a great way to do it. You’ll want to leave the honey under your eyes for about 10 – 15 minutes (almost like a mask). Do this 3 times a week and wipe off with a damp cloth. In a few weeks, your skin will be much brighter and softer as well.

We’ve all heard about using cold cucumbers around our eyes, but this old wives tale actually works by reducing puffiness and reducing discoloration around the eyes. To make things easy, keep some cut up cucumbers in the fridge and put one on each of your eyes for about 15 – 20 minutes each night.

These next two factors are very important – drinking plenty of water and limiting your salt intake. There are tons of healthy reasons to drink water and one of the best is that it will ensure the delicate skin around your eyes stays protected and hydrated. This is similar to why it’s important to limit your salt intake as it sucks up much of the water that’s in your system already. This leads to puffy eyes. Just cutting out a little at a time can make all the difference.

You might not know it, but your beauty sleep plays a key role in keeping the skin around your eyes healthy looking. Getting at least 7 – 9 hours of sleep each night is great. But sleeping the right way is important, too. If you sleep with your head propped up a little higher, the fluid from your sinuses will drain down and prevent your eyes from being puffy. Lastly, we all know that cigarettes are bad for you, but did you know that cigarette smoke can actually slow the blood flow to your face and under your eyes? That means that your skin isn’t getting the proper blood flow and nourishment that it needs. So, if you want awesome, healthy eyes, you might want to kick that habit.

So there you have it, the top natural ways to protect the skin around your eyes. Proper care and time can keep your eyes looking smooth and youthful by reducing the factors that may damage it. And you don’t have to turn to the latest in chemical-laden skin care technology either!
