GFGL FOOD BLOG: Favorite Smoothies

Hi all,

Recently I’ve been on a serious smoothie kick, whether it be for meal replacements or just for a post-workout snack. I love peanut butter, but sometimes that can make it taste a little too thick, especially if you’re having it as a snack so today I played around with a new recipe. 

This smoothie was delicious! Still light, but had a chocolate taste to it that is perfect for a sweet tooth or a healthier alternative to the chocolate bar in the freezer.


  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 cup milk
  • A few chocolate covered espresso beans (which I love and always keep in the freezer for a quick sweet fix)
  • 1 tsp of cocoa almond spread from Trader Joe’s

The mix of banana and cocoa was deliciously refreshing and I recommend that everyone try this recipe. Substitute what you like, but anything with milk, ice and a banana is always great. If you want to use PB instead of the almond spread, it’s great for a heavier smoothie (for meals or post-workout) with protein.
